Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef celebrates the big 1-5

Dear Swarovski, please send over a swanky crystal vase (that’s pronounced vaaaahz for all you non-sophisticates out there) because we’re celebrating Shark Reef Aquarium’s 15th anniversary. And in true Vegas fashion, the appropriate thing to do is throw an all-day bash.

On Saturday, June 20 the Shark Reef in Mandalay Bay is honoring their big 1-5 by offering discounts and activities for the whole family. Guests will enjoy 15% off in the gift shop and discounted admission prices: 10 bucks for adults and five for kids 12 and under. The littlest members of the family (four and under) are free.

There are plenty of activities taking place in addition to the usual fascination of the walk-through aquarium and the petting pools. There will be “Fin Facts” for the little guys and they’ll even be given their own shark fins to wear on their backs all day. Sing it with us: Ba-Dum…Ba-Dum.

Lucky aquarium-goers will be randomly selected for a behind-the-scenes tour above the 1.3-million gallon shipwreck exhibit. And if you tag your photos on Twitter and Instagram, you’ll be automatically entered to win one of a whole bunch of animal encounters (fingers crossed we get to feed the sharks). No need to be bummed out if you don’t win, there will be plenty of opportunities to touch animals like bearded dragons, ball pythons, sea stars and urchins. Don’t forget to congratulate them on their crystal anniversary while you’re there.
